Men's Rowing Spring Season Preview 2026

The Shoremen will host the WAC Invitational on 3/21

Chestertown, Md. - The Washington College men's rowing squad will start its spring season on the Corsica River in nearby Centreville, Maryland at the Washington College Invitational/Washington Cup at 9:00 a.m. this Saturday, March 21.

Last Season:
The Shoremen Varsity Eight captured the petite final at last season's Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference Championships and earned a fourth-place finish amongst Division III programs. The team concluded its season at the Dad Vail Regatta and the Varsity Four boat landed silver. In the fall, the Shoremen competed at both the Head of the Occoquan in Virginia and Head of the Schuylkill in Philadelphia. The Champ 4+ Entry A boat of Grayson Bishop, Mary Clymer, Andrew Ellestad, Lawrence Haleski and James Reichner IV picked up gold in the race at the Head of the Occoquan and the Frosh 4A boat of Bishop, Reichner IV, Eyrun Antonsson, and James Boughton secured gold at the Head of the Schuylkill.

Returning for the Shoremen:
Senior Andrew Ellestad, the team's 2024 Most Improved is the only senior on the Shoremen this spring. He was a part of both the petite final winning boat at the MARC Championships and silver medal boat at the Dad Vail. He is one of three returning rowers, joining juniors Robby Donnelly and Sam Skozilas. Junior coxswain Mary Clymer joins the men's team after serving as a coxswain on the women's squad the last two years.

From Head Coach Alex Kincaid
"We have a really exciting spring ahead of us where we will race six of the top 10 Division III teams in the country over the course of our season.  Our team of 19 athletes consists of 15 first years, so while we may be young, the dedication to training and our process that I've seen from them has been incredibly consistent. I can't wait to see what these guys are able to accomplish this season as we look to set the floor for what is to come for Washington College rowing."

Key Games:
After the Washington College Invitational/Washington Cup, the Shoremen will race at Ithaca on March 28. The squad will visit Massachusetts the weekend of April 11-12 to row in the Donahue Cup and WPI Invitational. Washington will host Delaware, Georgetown and Mercyhurst on April 25 before going to Pennsauken, New Jersey to compete at the MARC Championships on May 2. On May 7, the team will finish its regular season at the Dad Vail Regatta in Pennsauken.
