BALTIMORE, Md. – Senior midfielder
MaryCate Anson (Newark, Del./Newark Charter) set the Shorewomen Lacrosse draw control mark on her fifth draw of the game with 6:06 left in the third quarter against #19 Messiah in a non-conference women's lacrosse game on Saturday at UMBC Stadium. However, it was not enough as the 19th-ranked Falcons came away with a 25-18 win over Washington. The Falcons are now 3-2 on the season, while the Shorewomen drop to 2-2.Â

How It Happened
- Messiah netted the game's first three goals to lead 3-0 just 3:35 into the game.
- Washington was able to cut the lead to just a single goal after one, 6-5, on a
Mia Salvatierra tally with 60 seconds to go in the first quarter

Lis Braswell leveled the game at 6-6 on the first goal of the second quarter with 13:17 remaining.
- Following a goal by
Mia Salvatierra with 9:49 to go in the second that trimmed the Messiah lead to 9-8, Anson tied the program mark with her 212th career draw, tying both
Emily Hubley '15 and
Abby Laubach '24.
- The rest of the quarter went the way of the Falcons as Messiah scored all four goals to take a 13-8 lead into halftime.
- Anson would win her milestone draw, her 213th, with 6:06 left with Messiah winning 17-12. It was the senior's fifth of the game and would add three more in the contest for a total of eight.
- Washington would score three straight to reduce the Falcons' edge to 17-15 with 2:15 remaining in the third on a
Malery Andrews score from Salvatierra.
- The Falcons would register the last two goals of the third to lead 19-15 into the fourth.
- In the fourth, Messiah recorded five of the first six to lead 24-16 with 4:22 to go in the contest. Washington got the two of the final three to provide the final margin.

- Anson now has 216 career draws. Hubley and Laubach both pulled in 212 all-time draw controls for the Shorewomen.
