Mules Take Both Ends of Centennial Doubleheader from Shoremen, 7-6 and 8-3

Connolly Socks Two Home Runs in Game 1 and Powell Nets Three Hits in Game 2

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Host Muhlenberg took both ends of a Centennial Conference doubleheader on Saturday afternoon at Bicentennial Park. The Mules rallied from a 6-0 deficit to win 7-6 in game and took game two by an 8-3 score. The Mules are now 9-17 overall and 4-6 in the Centennial, while the Shoremen are now 17-15 and 5-5 respectively.

Muhlenberg (8-17, 3-6 CC) 7 Washington College (17-14, 5-4 CC) 6 (Game 1)

How It Happened
- The Shoremen took a 1-0 lead two batters into the game as Brett Connolly socked a solo home run to right field in the top of the first inning.
- Connolly would go deep again to right in the top of the fifth with two away to push the lead to 2-0.
- In the top of the sixth, the Shoremen scored four times to extend the lead to 6-0 that was started on a nobody out RBI single to center by Pete Kokinis that scored Reese Hirsh for a three-run lead and capped on a one out fielder's choice off the bat of Drew Kinsey that knocked in Kokinis that gave the Shoremen a six-run advantage. The middle two runs were courtesy of a two-run one out single by Matt O'Connor that chased in both Alex Dardaris and Brady Thompson.
- The Mules would score six times in the bottom of the eighth to wipe out the deficit and level the contest at 6-6. The home side began their comeback in the last of the eighth with a two-run single with one out to cut the lead to 6-2. Muhlenberg would trim the lead to 6-3 on a bases loaded walk and then sliced the lead to a single run at 6-5 on a two-run double to right-center. With two away, Muhlenberg tied it on a wild pitch.
- Muhlenberg would load the bases with one out on a walk and two intentional passes. The walk-off run was scored off of a hit by pitch to complete the comeback.

For The Shoremen (17-14, 5-4 CC)
- Hitting: Connolly (2-for-4, two home runs, two RBI), Hirsh (3-for-5, run), Kokinis (2-for-4, run, RBI), Kinsey (2-for-5, RBI), O'Connor (two RBI)
- Pitching: Elias Philiposian (loss 1-2, 2/3 inning, zero hits, one run, one earned, three walks, one strikeout)
- Washington had 13 hits, drew four walks and had one get on by a hit by pitch while leaving seven on base. 
- The Shoremen made two errors in the game, leading to no unearned runs for the Mules.

Muhlenberg (9-17, 4-6 CC) 3 Washington College (17-15, 5-5 CC) (Game 2)

How It Happened
- Dardaris singled home Kinsey on a two-out base hit to center to give the Shoremen a 1-0 lead in the top of the first.
- The Mules got three in the last of the first on a three-run homer to left with two away in the last of the first to lead 3-1 after one.
- WC one back in the top of the second to cut the lead to 3-2 on a sacrifice fly by O'Connor to score Wozniak with one away.
- The Shoremen tied it in the top of the fourth at 3-3 on a two-out double to right by Ty Powell that drove in O'Connor.
- Muhlenberg would take the lead for the rest of the game in the bottom half of the frame on a double down the left field line with one away to go up 4-3.
- The home side tacked on two in the bottom of the fifth and eighth innings respectively to provide the final margin.

For The Shoremen (17-15, 5-5 CC)
- Hitting: Powell (3-for-4, RBI)
- Pitching: Nico DiGrazio (loss 2-2, four innings, six hits, five runs, five earned, three walks, one strikeout)
- Washington had six hits, worked out three walks and had five reach on by a hit by pitch while leaving 10 on base. 
- The Shoremen did not commit an error in game two.
