Anson Wins Five Draw Controls to Finish Season with 100

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Host Swarthmore topped visiting Washington College, 16-7, in the first round of the 2026 Centennial Conference Women's Lacrosse Tournament on Wednesday night at Clothier Field. The Garnet, the tournament's fourth seed, is now 13-4 on the season, while the Shorewomen, the tournament's fifth seed, finishes their campaign at 10-7.

How It Happened
- Down 2-0, Piper Evans converted a free position shot with 10:11 left in the first quarter to cut the lead to 2-1. Swarthmore however would net the last four goals of the first to lead 6-1 after one.
- The Garnet scored all three goals in the second stanza to take a 9-1 lead into halftime.
- In the third, the Shorewomen scored two of the first three goals to trim the lead to 10-3 with 11:31 to go on a Mia Salvatierra score.  Swarthmore would score three of the final four to lead 13-4 heading into the fourth.
- Both teams scored three times in the fourth to provide the final margin.

For The Shorewomen (10-7)
- Scoring: Evans (four goals), Salvatierra (two goals and assist)
- In Goal: Maddy Kissinger (60:00, 11 saves, 16 goals)
- MaryCate Anson (five draws), Lis Braswell (four ground balls)
- WC went 17-for-19 in clears, went 3-for-8 in free position shots and picked up nine ground balls.
- The Shorewomen totaled 25 shots, notched four caused turnovers and had 16 turnovers in the game.

Notes
- With the five draws, Anson finished the season with 100 draw controls this season and became the third player in program history to tally 100 or more draws in season joining Cecily Docktor '19 with 101 in 2019 and Ellie Morrall '23 with 100 in 2023. Anson finished with 292 career draws, the most in team history. Anson won the milestone draw on the game's final draw with just over four minutes to go in the contest.
- Salvatierra closed with 272 all-time points on 168 goals and 104 assists, finishing second in points, third in assists and fifth in goals.
- The seniors on this season's team were Anson, Evans, Salvatierra, Malery Andrews, Peyton Baldwin, Gianna Maggi, Madison Maguire and Anna Wilson.
