Sailing Finishes Second at Washington College Open

Chestertown, MD - Washington College Sailing hosted the Chester River Open and showed out earning a second place finish amongst five teams.

Chester River Open

Sailors arrived at Hodson Boathouse to beautiful weather. Racing began in 7-10kts from the south, with an ebb tide running across the course. Th first race was abandoned to reset the course, the wind settled in with a slight oscillation. These tricky conditions continued until the fleet took a short break after 6 races. 3 protests were filed during the break, but all 3 were ruled invalid. The final 4 races were completed as the tide switched and wind dropped.

Washington College finished 2nd, with Imogene Nuss and Sabi Fintel holding first in fleet. The pair finished in the A division with 23 points. Nuss served as skipper with Fintel at crew, earning three first place finishes in races four, eight, and nine.

In the B Division, Nora Ciak served as skipper with Olivia Hall at crew. The two ended the regatta with 60 points and a best finish in race nine where they finished third.
