Sailing Competes at ILCA South Invite at USNA

Annapolis, MD- Austin Latimer and Matthew Nadolny traveled to The Naval Academy to compete in the ILCA South Regatta.

ILCA South Regatta

Saturday, September 12:
The first day of the ILCA South was sailed in a 5-10 knot SE breeze in the mouth of the Severn River. All races were W4s. One BKD was granted for a broken ILCA top section in race 5.

Sunday, September 13:
On Sunday, the fleet launched in a light westerly, but that wind never got strong enough to race in. After a while waiting on the water, a 4-5 knot northerly filled that allowed for 2 ILCA races and one FJ race before dying during the 2nd FJ race which was abandoned. An easterly filled next which got as high at 8 knots and allowed for 2 more races to be sailed. One BKD was awarded in the ILCA Fleet for a tiller extension universal that broke inside the tube in a place that could not be inspected ahead of time.

Austin Latimer finished in 17th place at the regatta, leaving the race with 198 points. His best finish was 14th in race five. Matthew Nadolny finished in 18th place with a total score of 213.
