Chestertown, Md. - The Washington College Shorewomen fell to visiting St. Mary's College of Maryland, 1-0, in a non-conference field hockey game on Wednesday evening at Kibler Field at Roy Kirby Jr. Stadium as the Seahawks scored the game's lone goal with 7.2 seconds remaining in the second quarter. The Seahawks improve to 3-3 on the year, while the Shorewomen go to 2-5.

How it Happened
- Washington College created several opportunities in the opening quarter, earning three penalty corners and putting shots on goal from
Tyler Rice and
Tara Radebaugh, but both attempts were stopped by St. Mary's goalkeeper.
Natalie Watkinson also recorded a shot that went wide.
- The Shorewomen continued to pressure the Seahawks in the second quarter, earning multiple penalty corners and recording shots from Watkinson, Radebaugh and
Erin Houlihan, all of which were turned away. St. Mary's took a 1-0 lead with 7.2 seconds remaining in the quarter converting of a penalty corner with the score coming from the left side of the circle and going in short side.
- WC had three shots on target in the third quarter and six penalty corners, but unable to get the tying score. Watkinson had the final chance with six seconds left, but it was saved.
- The home side continued to apply pressure entering the fourth quarter, earning six additional penalty corners during the opening 8:37 of the final period and recording shots from Watkinson and
Maris LaPerle. LaPerle's attempt was saved, while Watkinson's was blocked.
Ashley Swan prevented St. Mary's from taking a two-goal lead with a defensive save with 5:39 to go, but the Seahawks were able to hold on and run out the clock.
