Washington and Widener Play to 1-1 Tie

Perin Scores from Knauf in 16th Minute

CHESTER, Pa. – Visiting Washington College host Widener finished in a 1-1 tie on Friday night on Elizabeth J. Hirschmann Stadium at Leslie C. Quick Jr. Stadium in a non-conference men's soccer contest. The Shoremen are now 0-0-2 on the season, while the Pride goes to 0-1-1.

How It Happened
- Washington took the lead at the 15:41 mark when Simone Perin pounced on the rebound of a shot by Samuel Knauf and put it into the lower right corner for the game's opening goal.
- The Shoremen took a 1-0 lead into halftime as the defense blocked the Pride's final shot attempt in the first half with 2:05 to go before the break.
- Widener would tie it in the 49th minute on a shot from the left side from 10 yards out on the short side from a through ball.
- The Pride's final chance came in the 78th minute, but the shot was off target to the left, while the Shoremen had the final shot of the game with 4:48 left by Kaua de Oliveira, but was stopped by the Widener goalie.
- WC had a free kick in the final minute for the final chance to win the game, but Widener was able to clear it to preserve the draw.
