Lou Sheppard

Lou Sheppard was hired as an assistant baseball coach at Washington College during the summer of 2019.

Sheppard arrives in Chestertown after serving in multiple capacities at his alma mater St. Mary's College of Maryland where he was an assistant baseball coach from 2014-19, the recruiting coordinator from 2016-19 and also served as a strength & conditioning coach from the summer of 2015 through 2019.  This past season he helped the Seahawks amass the most runs, hit, doubles and extra base hits in a season this decade. 

He got his start in coaching as an assistant varsity coach at Leonardtown High School for two seasons, 2012-13.  Sheppard has also served as a coach at several camps, including the USA Baseball Academy Camp hosted by St. Mary's. 

As a student-athlete at St. Mary's, he was a four-year member of the baseball team (2007-10) and helped the Seahawks reach four consecutive Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) Tournaments.  He was also a representative on the St. Mary's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) during his time as an undergraduate.

Sheppard earned his B.A. in History from St. Mary's (Md.) in 2010 where he also minored in Educational Studies and African Diaspora & African Studies.  He would earn his M.A. in Teaching from St. Mary's in 2011.

He is also a teacher at Severn Middle School.
