Chase Winter

Washington College head men's lacrosse coach Jeff Shirk named Chase Winter as assistant coach on January 18, 2021.

A former Division I player, Winter served as an assistant coach at Centennial Conference rival Muhlenberg since the 2017 season.

Winter is a 2013 graduate of Johns Hopkins University and was awarded the Dylan Schlott Scholarship for Outstanding Student/Athlete in 2010, 2011 and 2013. He played four years as a midfielder and participated in four NCAA Tournament games during his career.

"I am excited to welcome Chase to the WAC Lacrosse Family," said Shirk. "We share a common bond in being from the same hometown and I have enjoyed following Chase's success as both a player and young coach. He has the mindset and personality needed to help develop our student-athletes into well-rounded, quality young men while we work to reach our lofty program goals."

An Under Armour All-American and a USILA All-American as a midfielder at Mountain Lakes High School in New Jersey, he was a member of the Group 1 State Tournament of Champions in 2007 and 2008.

At Mountain Lakes, Winter was first team all-conference in basketball and served as captain his sophomore, junior and senior year. He also was a member of the Group 1 state champion football team and selected first-team all-conference his junior and senior years.

"I am super excited to work alongside a fellow Mountain Lakes alumni, Jeff Shirk, who I admired watching throughout the years," said Winter. "To me, coaching the game of lacrosse is about making the game better for each student-athlete and helping them to realize its teams that win games and not individuals. I plan on continuing to create platforms for all of my student-athletes to perform at their very best physically, mentally, and emotionally."

Winter comes from a lacrosse family. His father Bill was an All-American at Wilkes University and an assistant coach at Bucknell University. He is also a member of the New Jersey Lacrosse Hall of Fame. Older brother Austin was a four-time first-team All-Patriot League selection and a three-time All-American at Bucknell University, graduating in 2010. A 2015 graduate of Muhlenberg, younger brother Connor played four years of lacrosse and football, where he set several records for kicking.

Winter was an assistant coach at Drew University in 2016.
