Tyler German was hired as an assistant men's lacrosse coach at Washington College in September 2015. German, a native of nearby Centreville and 2011 graduate of Queen Anne's County High School, was a standout player at the University of Virginia who has gone on to play in Major League Lacrosse (MLL).
At Virginia, German scored 32 career goals, assisted on 12 others, and scooped up 71 ground balls in 49 career games played. He also saw time on face-offs as a sophomore and junior, going 31-for-62. He served as a team captain as a senior, when he set career-best marks in goals (20), assists (seven), points (27), and ground balls (40) and started the final nine games of his collegiate career. He was also named to the Atlantic Coast Conference's Academic Honor Roll as a senior. German began his collegiate career as a short-stick defensive midfielder before moving to the face-off X and then to the offensive midfield.
German was selected by the Charlotte Hounds with the 31st pick in the 2015 MLL draft. After his rights were traded to the Boston Cannons, German appeared in four games during the 2015 season, recording eight ground balls.
A highly-touted recruit coming out of Queen Anne's, German was an Under Armour All-American and the Bayside Conference Player of the Year. He also starred in both football and basketball in high school.
German graduated from the University of Virginia with a degree in Sociology in May 2015. While attending the school, he also served as a student mentor in the ACE Mentor Program, volunteering with character building at a local elementary school while representing Virginia's athletic department.
