Ryan Shera joined the Shoremen in the summer of 2021 and his four seasons with the team have been the most successful in program history. In that span, the Shoremen finished first or second in the conference three times, captured a Conference Championship and earned two trips to the NCAA Tournament finishing in the Sweet 16 in 2021 and the Final Four and 2023. His efforts were acknowledged with the 2021 United Soccer Coaches Region V Coaching Staff of the Year award and the 2023 Centennial Conference Coaching Staff of the Year.
Prior to his arrival in Chestertown, Coach Shera had stints with youth clubs in Southern California, Nevada and Maryland as coach, educator, and director. His work with refugee players in the Yalla Soccer Club in San Diego was featured on ESPN, NPR, and other national media outlets and in 2016 Ryan was a featured presenter at the US Soccer Foundation Urban Soccer Symposium.
Ryan’s coaching certifications include the USSF A license, the United Soccer Coaches Premier Diploma and the US Soccer National Youth License. He has attended coaching courses in Holland, Belgium, Croatia, and Northern Ireland under the tutelage of World Football Academy educators Raymond Verheijen and Marcel Lucassen (former Head of Coach & Player Development at Arsenal).
Ryan played collegiately at Fordham University and Dickinson College and played high school soccer at St. Mary’s of Annapolis under Coach Roy Dunshee. He is a graduate of the University of San Diego School of Law, Order of the Barristers. He served as a federal law clerk in the Southern District of California before entering private practice.
