Eric Widger

Eric Widger was named assistant coach for the Washington College softball program in the fall 2022. 
 
The Shorewomen in his first season with the team in 2023 went 11-5 in Centennial Conference play and 20-19-1 overall, earning a spot in the Centennial Conference Tournament for the first time since 2018. The 2024 campaign saw the squad go 11-5 in Centennial action and 20-19-1 overall, helping lead the Shorewomen to the top seed in the conference tournament for the first time since 2016. The 2025 team secured a spot in the conference tournament for the third straight season.   
 
In 2024, the Shorewomen placed five athletes on the All-Conference Team including the two-time Pitcher of the Year and Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Lexi Barnhart. In 2023, seven players were selected to the all-conference team and two All-Region. The 2025 team had three players land All-Centennial honors in addition to having the CC Scholar-Athlete of the Year in Chloe Trefz.  
 
Widger previously served as the assistant coach at Division III Washington & Jefferson College in Washington, Pennsylvania.  
 
Before his time at W&J, he served as a student manager for the Division I University of Delaware softball program for three seasons where he earned his bachelor's degree in Sport Management. During his time, the Blue Hens made it to their first ever CAA Championship Final.  
 
Widger also serves as a coach with the Delaware Cobras travel softball organization, which has now merged with the Delaware Fury. He assists in coaching multiple 16U & 18U teams and previously assisted in running the day-to-day operations of the organization before the merger.
