Bart Jaeger’s prolific career as an attackman for the Washington College men’s lacrosse team culminated in All-America first-team honors and the Shoremen’s first-ever Centennial Conference Championship.
Bart’s freshman season was Washington’s final year in the Middle Atlantic Conference. He found the back of the net 21 times and assisted on five goals as the Shoremen finished 12-4 and advanced all the way to the NCAA Division III semifinals. From then on, he would remain one of the team’s top scoring threats.
As a sophomore in 1994, Bart helped usher the Shoremen into the Centennial Conference with a 41-goal, 23-assist season. The Shoremen finished that year 10-5 with another NCAA Division III semifinal appearance. As a junior, he paced the Shoremen with 29 goals and 44 total points to go along with 15 assists.
Bart’s senior campaign of 1996 was one to remember, both for himself and for the Shoremen. Coming off an uncharacteristic sub-.500 season the year before, the Shoremen righted the ship to the tune of a 13-5 record and an unbeaten 6-0 mark in Centennial Conference play, claiming their first-ever Centennial Conference Championship. The Shoremen advanced to the NCAA Division III Championship game for the first time in six years and their 13 wins matched the single-season school record at the time. Among Bart’s 36 goals and 15 assists that season were 10 goals and four assists compiled during the Shoremen’s three NCAA Tournament games. Bart was named a first-team All-American and a North-South Senior All-Star and landed on the All-Centennial Conference second team.
Bart is the second second-generation inductee of the Washington College Athletic Hall of Fame. His father, Bruce, was inducted in 1983.
Washington College considers it an honor and privilege to induct Bart Jaeger into its Athletic Hall of Fame on this 17th day of October, 2015.
