In the century-long history of Washington College men’s basketball, only one man scored more career points in a Shoreman uniform than Greg Adams. In basketball, there are volume scorers and there are efficient shooters; Greg was the rare combination of both.

En route to his 1,793 career points – which also rank seventh in Centennial Conference history – he shot 46% from the field overall, 35% from three-point range, and 83% from the free throw line, draining 507 of his 613 career attempts from the charity stripe.  That 83% mark stands as the 12th best in Centennial Conference history. His 184 career three-pointers also rank him 12th in Centennial Conference history.

Greg’s 507 made free throws stand as the College’s career record. He also shares the school single-game record for free throws by making 19 in a game in 1999. As a senior, Greg averaged an astonishing 24.2 points per game, a mark which led the Centennial Conference and still stands as the second-highest single-season scoring average in conference history.  His career scoring average of 17.6 points per game is fourth best in conference history.  Not solely a scorer, Greg also totaled 193 assists and 110 steals in his career.

Greg was named to the All-Centennial Conference team three times during his career, twice landing on the first team and once being tabbed as an honorable mention.

Greg’s exploits on the court had a strong impact on the success of the team. The Shoremen finished with a winning percentage of .500 or better each of Greg’s seasons and advanced to the Centennial Conference Tournament three out of four years. As a sophomore, Greg helped lead the Shoremen to their first-ever appearance in a Centennial Conference Championship game.

As a freshman at Washington College, Greg also played baseball and went 6-3 on the mound as a pitcher, recording an ERA of 2.80.

As a senior, Greg was awarded the Thomas Reeder Spedden Medal for his athletic accomplishments.

Washington College considers it an honor and privilege to induct Greg W. Adams into its Athletic Hall of Fame on this 13th day of October, 2012.
