In the College’s proud men’s tennis history, Peter was one of the Shoremen’s most consistently excellent and unflappable players. In each of his four seasons, he won between 25 and 30 singles matches while never losing more than five. In singles alone, he won 110 matches, while losing just 17 over four years. Over the course of his final two seasons, he went 34-3 playing at the No. 1 singles spot in dual matches.
After being named the 2003 ITA Division III National Player to Watch, Peter lived up to expectations by being named the 2004 ITA Division III National Senior Player of the Year. He was named the 2003 and 2004 Centennial Conference Player of the Year and was a three-time All-American, earning the distinction in singles as both a junior and senior and in doubles as a senior. He was a four-time first-team All-Centennial Conference first-team selection and won two conference singles and two conference doubles championships. He also won back-to-back ITA Regional Singles Championships his junior and senior years.
Peter won three of the College’s major athletic department awards over his final two years. He shared the Elizabeth “Bo” Blanchard Memorial Sportsmanship Award as a junior and both the Eldridge Eliason and Senior Athletic Awards as a senior.
With Peter on the team, the Shoremen won four consecutive Centennial Conference Championships, played in four consecutive NCAA Division III Tournaments, and won 62 dual matches while losing just 18.
