A standout performer and four-year player in two sports, Travis Beauchamp etched his name into the history books of two of the College’s oldest sports.
One of the most outstanding goalkeepers in Washington College soccer history, Travis made 40 saves and allowed just eight goals as a freshman in 1995 on his way to Centennial Conference honorable mention recognition. Two years later, he was named to the All-Centennial Conference first team, making 107 saves and allowing 31 goals. He repeated as an All-Centennial first-team selection and was chosen for the All-Region second team the following year, racking up 106 saves against just 25 goals while serving as a team captain.
For his career in net, Travis totaled 367 saves and 15 shutouts. He posted a career goals-against average of 1.43 and a career save percentage of .805. He also recorded three career assists. During his four years on the team, the Shoremen went 41-31-3, reaching double-digit wins three times in four years for the first time in team history.
In baseball, Travis was a career .324 hitter at third base and served as a team captain as a senior. His senior season saw him hit .353 en route to an All-Centennial Conference first-team selection. He also made 20 career appearances as a pitcher. As a sophomore, Travis was a part of the Shoremen baseball team that won a then school-record 21 games.
At the end of his senior year, Travis was recognized with the College’s Thomas Reeder Spedden Medal. He remained at Washington College for an additional two years, earning his Master’s degree and serving as a graduate assistant coach. He is currently the head men’s soccer coach at Catholic University.
Washington College considers it an honor and privilege to induct Travis Beauchamp into its Athletic Hall of Fame on this 12th day of October, 2013.
