Marshall Clinches Match with 6-0, 6-0

BRYN MAWR, PA -- Visiting Washington College rolled
past host Bryn Mawr College, 8-1, in a Centennial Conference
women's tennis match this afternoon. The Shorewomen improved to 4-1
overall this season by winning their season opener.
In doubles, sophomore Jordan Finnegan
(Wilmington, DE/Archmere Academy) and sophomore
Brittany Marshall (Dagsboro, DE/Worcester Prep,
MD) beat Anna Perocchi and
Elizabeth Wiseman, 8-4, at No. 1, while freshman
Kat Cohen (Springfield, MA/Williston-Northampton
School) and freshman Campbell McNicol (Mill Neck,
NY/St. George's School) won by an identical score over
Leah Raj and Elizabeth Ver Hoeve
at No. 2. Junior Kristine Depew (Downingtown, PA/Westtown
School) and freshman Victoria Peel-Margraf
(Montauk, NJ/East Hampton) were 8-3 winners at No. 3.
In singles, Finnegan downed Perocchi, 6-1, 6-2, at
No. 1, while Marshall clinched the match with a 6-0, 6-0, win
against Wiseman at No. 2. McNicol beat Melanie
Shafer, 6-2, 6-0, at No. 3 and Cohen bested Raj, 6-1, 6-1,
at No. 4. Ver Hoeve scored the Owls' point with a 6-1, 6-2, victory
over Depew at No. 5. Peel-Margraf got a 6-1, 6-2, win for the
Shorewomen over Julia Jameson at No. 6.
The Shorewomen return to action one week from today
with a 2:00 p.m. Centennial Conference home match against
Gettysburg.
