TEMPE, Ariz. - Five Washington College women's tennis student-athletes have been named 2026 ITA (Intercollegiate Tennis Association) Scholar-Athletes for Division III. In addition, the Shorewomen were one of 177 Division III programs to have received the ITA All-Academic Team award.
Student-athletes selected for scholar-athlete had to have had grade-point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year and be listed on the institutional eligibility form. For the All-Academic Team award, the team needed to have a grade-point average of at least 3.2 (on a 4.00 scale), all student-athletes included should be listed on the institutional eligibility form and all varsity letter winners should be factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year.
Recent graduate Isabella Sorhegui (Naples, Fla./Barron Collier), rising juniors Gaby Coutts (Burnet, Texas/Cedar Park) and Sofia Sperandei (Pyla, Cyprus/King Richard School) and rising sophomores Juanita Arbelaez (Cali, Colombia/Colegio Bolivat) and Jess Wilde (Attleborough, England/Culford School) were the five Shorewomen to be named ITA Scholar-Athletes. They were five of the 1,309 from across Division III women's tennis to be named scholar-athletes.
Sorhegui garnered scholar-athlete for the fourth time, Coutts and Sperandei landed the honor for the second time, while Arbelaez and Wilde are first-time recipients.
The Shorewomen were one of eight from the Centennial Conference to earn the team award along with Bryn Mawr, Dickinson, Franklin & Marshall, Haverford, Muhlenberg, Swarthmore and Ursinus.
