Box Score Parrish Fires in Four Goals in Win
ASHLAND, VA -- Sophomore attacker Kalli
Parrish (Timonium, MD/McDonogh School) scored four goals
as visiting Washington College downed host Randolph-Macon College,
12-8, in a non-conference women's lacrosse game this afternoon in
Ashland, VA. The Shorewomen improved to 4-2 by handing the Yellow
Jackets (3-1) their first loss of the season.
The Shorewomen scored six of the game's first seven
goals to grab a 6-1 lead on a goal by freshman midfielder
Marissa Restaino (Media, PA/Penncrest) off an
assist from freshman midfielder Mollie Shipley (Denville,
NJ/Morris Catholic) with 10:34 to play in the first half.
Washington held an 8-3 lead at halftime and built its biggest lead
of the game on a free-position goal by sophomore midfielder
Rachel Bartee (Mount Airy, MD/South Carroll) with
8:30 left in the second half which upped the margin to 12-4. The
Yellow Jackets scored four times in the final 8:02, including twice
in the last minute of the contest, to provide the final margin.
Parrish scored her four goals on just six shots,
while Restaino had a terrific all-around game, scoring three goals,
controlling four draws, scooping up three ground balls, and causing
four Randolph-Macon turnovers. Bartee added a pair of goals, while
Shipley had one goal and one assist. Junior attacker Sarah
Cannon (Baltimore, MD/Notre Dame Prep) and junior
midfielder Sam Ohrem (Ridgefield, CT/Ridgefield)
netted one goal each, while senior midfielder Allie
Hanzsche (Catonsville, MD/Mount de Sales) had one assist.
Erin Clare Cassidy led
Randolph-Macon with three goals and two assists. Logan
Pomeroy scored two goals, while Emily
Kent handed out three assists. Kelly
Cramer, Kelly Egan, and Elyse
Cooper each scored one goal.
Washington held a 29-14 advantage in shots in the
game and forced 20 Randolph-Macon turnovers while committing only
nine.
The Shorewomen return to action Saturday with a
1:00 p.m. Centennial Conference game at Dickinson.
