Box Score Mollie Shipley Scores Three Goals for
Washington
CARLISLE, PA -- Host Dickinson College jumped out
to a 14-5 lead at halftime en route to a 20-10 win over visiting
Washington College in Centennial Conference women's lacrosse action
on Saturday afternoon at Biddle Field. The Red Devils improved to
5-1 overall and 2-0 in Centennial play, while the Shorewomen fell
to 4-3 and 1-2.
Washington grabbed a 2-1 lead with 20:54 left in
the opening half on a goal by senior midfielder Allie
Hanzsche (Catonsville, MD/Mount de Sales), which was her
second of the game. Dickinson would respond with the next four
goals to grab a 5-2 lead with 15:01 left in the first on a
Lucy West goal off of a feed from Kaity
Moore. Freshman midfielder Mollie Shipley
(Denville, NJ/Morris Catholic) cut the deficit to 5-3 on a
pass from junior midfielder Sam Ohrem (Ridgefield,
CT/Ridgefield) with 14:37 to go in the first. The Red
Devils pushed it out to 7-3, before junior attack Sarah
Cannon (Baltimore, MD/Notre Dame Prep) cut it to 7-4 with
11:55 left on a pass from Hanzsche. Dickinson would score seven of
the last eight goals of the half to break open the game and take a
14-5 lead into the intermission. Alysa Crellin
scored two of the goals for the Red Devils during the closing 10:49
of the half.
Dickinson would score three of the first goals of
the second half to take its biggest lead of the game at 17-6 with
13:05 left in the contest of a West tally. The Shorewomen would
score three goals in a two minute stretch to cut the hosts lead to
17-9 with 10:00 left on a score by freshman midfielder
Britton Preroff (Baltimore, MD/Bryn Mawr) with
sophomore midfielder Kalli Parrish (Timonium, MD/McDonogh
School) chalking up the helper. However, Dickinson would
score of three of the last four goals to end any hopes of a WC
rally.
West scored four goals to lead all players in the
win for Dickinson. Crellin and Kelsey Muir
deposited three goals for the Red Devils, while Moore and
Sunnie Ko both netted two goals for the hosts.
Kara Glazer dished out a game-best three assists,
while Moore and Muir both handed out two helpers. In goal, Jessie
Clark played the first half and made two saves in gaining the win.
Amanda Morse played the second half for the Red Devils and turned
away five shots.
For Washington, Shipley scored three goals, while
Hanzsche had two goals and one assist to pace the visitors.
Freshman goalie Stephanie Seibert (Clear Spring,
MD/Mercersburg Academy) made seven stops for the
Shorewomen.
Dickinson held a 36-19 advantage in shots and a
17-15 advantage in draw controls in the game. The Red Devils were
14-for-15 in clears and 6-for-10 on free position shots, while the
Shorewomen were 12-for-15 and 2-for-3 respectively.
The Shorewomen return to action Wednesday with a
4:00 p.m. non-conference tilt against Goucher.
