Box Score Shipley Scores Three Goals, Assists on
Another in Debut
CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Second-ranked Gettysburg jumped
out to a 14-2 halftime lead en route to an 18-9 Centennial
Conference women's lacrosse victory over host Washington College
this afternoon on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium. The
Bullets improved to 2-0 with the win over the Shorewomen, who were
playing their season opener.
Nina Emala led Gettysburg with
five goals, two assists, seven ground balls, and four caused
turnovers. Hollis Stahl added four goals and five
draw controls, while Hannah Church tallied two
goals and one assist. Jessica Crane,
Marnie Commins, and Erin Cushing
each added one goal and one assist. Kristen
Krammer played the first half in goal for the Bullets,
making one save. Laura McIntyre played the second
half and made three saves.
Freshman midfielder Mollie Shipley
(Denville, NJ/Morris Catholic) paced the Shorewomen with
three goals and an assist. Freshman midfielder Marissa
Restaino (Media, PA/Penncrest) netted two goals, while
sophomore attacker Liza Twilley (Salisbury, MD/Salisbury
School) and senior midfielder Allie Hanzsche
(Catonsville, MD/Mount de Sales) netted one goal and one
assist each. Junior midfielder Liz Cumberpatch (Annapolis,
MD/Annapolis) and freshman attacker Corinne
Ziccardi (Baltimore, MD/Loch Raven) scored one goal each.
WC junior goalie Amber Madore (Columbia, MD/Wilde
Lake) made 14 saves and recorded five ground balls in the
loss.
Gettysburg held a 40-18 advantage in shots in the
game and controlled 21 of the game's 29 draws.
The Shorewomen return to action Tuesday with a 3:30
p.m. game at Methodist.
