Marshall & Finnegan Remain Unbeaten at #1
Doubles
CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Visiting Dickinson College edged
out host Washington College, 5-4, in a Centennial Conference
women's tennis match this afternoon at Schottland Tennis Center.
The Red Devils improved to 12-5 overall and 7-2 in conference play
with the win, while the Shorewomen fell to 10-5 and 5-4 with the
loss.
Dickinson took a 2-1 lead through doubles play.
Alex Bybel and Carla Cox defeated
WC freshman Kat Cohen (Springfield,
MA/Williston-Northampton School) and freshman
Victoria Peel-Margraf (Montauk, NY/East Hampton),
8-3, at No. 3. The Shorewomen got on the board when sophomore
Jordan Finnegan (Wilmington, DE/Archmere Academy)
and sophomore Brittany Marshall (Dagsboro, DE/Worcester
Prep, MD) completed an 8-6 win over Sarah
Woodward and Joelle Nitzberg at No. 1,
but the Red Devils pulled ahead on an 8-4 victory at No. 2 by
Sarah Lindner and Alysia Rodgers
against senior Kellie Foster (Lothian, MD/St.
Mary's) and freshman Campbell McNicol (Mill Neck,
NY/St. George's School). Finnegan and Marshall improved to
16-0 at No. 1 doubles this season with their win.
The Shorewomen evened the score at 2-2 when
Marshall finished off a win over Nitzberg at No. 2 singles, 6-3,
6-2. Washington took a 3-2 lead with a 6-1, 6-2, victory by
Finnegan over Rogers at No. 1. Woodward evened the scored with a
2-6, 6-4, 6-0, win against Foster at No. 3. Cohen gave the
Shorewomen a 4-3 lead with a 6-4, 6-4, victory against
Leigh Oczkowski at No. 5. Lindner tied the score
with a 6-1, 6-0, victory over Peel-Margraf at No. 6. Bybel gave the
Red Devils the win with a 6-3, 1-6, 6-2, win against McNicol at No.
4.
The Shorewomen will complete their dual match
season Monday with a 3:30 p.m. Centennial Conference match at
McDaniel.
