Shorewomen Scratch Seven-Year Itch Against Red Devils

Winningest Season for Shorewomen Since 2003; First Win Over Dickinson Since 2004

CHESTERTOWN, MD – The Washington College women's lacrosse team ended a seven-year losing streak to Dickinson College with a 13-7 Centennial Conference home win over the Red Devils this afternoon on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium. The Shorewomen improved to 10-2 overall and 4-2 in conference play with the win, while the Red Devils fell to 4-9 and 1-4 with the loss. The 10 wins mark the Shorewomen's highest win total in a season since going 14-6 in 2003.

The Shorewomen held a 4-3 lead before scoring three goals in the final 47 seconds of the first half to open up a four-goal advantage at the intermission. Sophomore attacker Corinne Ziccardi (Baltimore, MD/Loch Raven) scored the first of those three goals, as well as the second with 17 seconds on the clock. Freshman midfielder Carly Eisenbrandt (Baltimore, MD/Towson) netted the third with just two seconds to go.

The Red Devils scored three of the first four goals of the second half and trailed just 8-6 before Washington reeled off five straight goals to build a 13-6 advantage on a goal by junior attacker Liza Twilley (Salisbury, MD/Salisbury School) with 8:15 remaining.

Eisenbrandt paced the Shorewomen with four goals, while Ziccardi finished with three and Twilley and senior attacker Sarah Cannon (Baltimore, MD/Notre Dame Prep) scored two each. Sophomore goalie Stephanie Seibert (Clear Spring, MD/Mercersburg Academy [PA]) made nine saves in the win.

Dickinson got two goals and three assists from Chestertown native Kaity Moore, while Kelsey Muir added two goals and Sunnie Ko had a goal and an assist.

Washington held a 28-21 advantage in shots and turned the ball over just 13 times to Dickinson's 18. The Red Devils held a 15-7 advantage in draw controls.

The Shorewomen return to action Wednesday with a 7:00 p.m. Centennial Conference home game against Haverford.
