Haas Lifts Shoremen to 1-0 Double OT Win at Widener

Senior Scores Only Goal in 103rd Minute 

CHESTER, PA -- Senior forward Jordan Haas (Wyomissing, PA/Wilson) scored the only goal of the game in the 103rd minute to give visiting Washington College a 1-0 double-overtime men's soccer victory over host Widener University tonight in Chester, PA. 

Widener (2-5) held a slim 5-3 advantage in shots in the first half and 6-3 advantage in the second half.  The Pioneers got off the final shot of regulation as Nic Salvemini had his shot saved by WC senior goalkeeper Chris Phipps (Newark, DE/St. Mark's) in the final seconds of the second half. 

The Shoremen (2-3-1) recorded the first shot of overtime as Haas had a shot saved by Widener goalkeeper Dan Price 23 seconds in. Haas had another shot stopped by Price at 91:26. Derek Brubaker sent a shot high for Widener at 95:54. Dan Koch fired another Widener shot high at 98:51 as the game remained scoreless and headed to the second overtime.

Haas started the second overtime in familiar fashion, having a shot saved by Price at 101:13. He then scored his game-winner at 102:57 off an assist from sophomore midfielder Sam Wild (Chalfont, PA/Central Bucks West)

Widener finished the game with a 13-10 advantage in shots, but the Shoremen held a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks. Price made six saves for Widener in the loss, while Phipps finished with three for Washington in the win.

The Shoremen are back in action Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. Centennial Conference game at Gettysburg.
