Mustangs Sweep Shorewomen In Three Sets

Beresik With Career-High Four Blocks

CHESTERTOWN, MD – Visiting Stevenson University swept a non-conference volleyball match on Thursday night against host Washington College, 3-0 (25-11, 25-8, 25-14), at the Cain Athletic Center.  The Mustangs improve to 16-2 with the victory, while the Shorewomen drop to 7-7 with the setback.

Stevenson's Christine Isenberg tallied nine kills to lead all players as the Mustangs hit .313 as a team in the victory.  Jessica Gieselman handed out 22 assists and Samantha Perillo totaled 17 digs and both were match highs.  Alexa Carney and Megan Miller both recorded four service aces to lead all players as the Mustangs collected 16 aces in the victory.

Junior defensive specialist Rita Rivera (Plymouth Meeting, PA/Plymouth-Whitemarsh) had 12 digs to lead Washington in the match.  Freshman middle hitter Sarah Beresik (Point Pleasant, NJ/Point Pleasant Beach) had a career-best and match-topping four blocks.  Sophomore setter Lauren White (Huntingtown, MD/Huntingtown) passed out 13 assists for the Shorewomen.

The Shorewomen return to action on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Cedar Crest for a tri-match against host Cedar Crest and Notre Dame (MD).  Washington plays Notre Dame (MD) at 1:00 p.m. and Cedar Crest at 3:00 p.m. in non-conference volleyball action.
