Box Score Fili Makes 11 Saves in Loss for Shorewomen
CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Visiting Dickinson College defeated host Washington College, 2-0, in a Centennial Conference women's soccer game this afternoon on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium. The Red Devils improved to 10-4 overall and 4-3 in conference play with the win, while the Shorewomen fell to 5-7 and 1-5 with the loss.
Dickinson controlled play in the first half and scored the only goal of the period at 13:28 when Erin Sutphen knocked in a rebound off an initial shot by Cate Maugle. The Red Devils enjoyed a 13-3 advantage in shots and an 8-1 advantage in corner kicks in the opening half.
Sutphen scored the Red Devils' second goal by chipping in a redirected shot initially sent by Marissa Kunkle. Dickinson had a 20-3 advantage in shots and an 8-0 advantage in corner kicks in the second half.
Charlotte Armour made two saves in the first 57:15 in goal for Dickinson, while Liz Cassin made two saves in the final 32:45. Sophomore Mickey Fili (Sparks, MD/Hereford) made 11 saves in the loss for the Shorewomen.
The Shorewomen return to action Wednesday with a 4:00 p.m. Centennial Conference home game against Ursinus.
