Box Score Duffy Scores on Penalty Kick for Shoremen in Loss
LANCASTER, PA -- Host Franklin & Marshall topped visiting Washington College, 2-1, in a Centennial Conference men's soccer game tonight in Lancaster, PA. The Diplomats improved to 11-4 overall and 4-3 in conference play with the win, while the Shoremen fell to 5-8 and 3-4 with the loss.
The Diplomats held an 8-3 advantage in shots in a scoreless first half. F&M finally broke through at the 71:55 mark when Sam Lane scored his sixth goal of the season off an assist from Shawn Ganow. The Diplomats added their second goal at 82:47 when Jared Bomba scored off an assist from Ben Beaver.
Washington got on the board at 83:19 when senior midfielder/defender Ryan Duffy (Philadelphia, PA/Chestnut Hill Academy) scored on a penalty kick, but could not find the equalizer.
F&M finished the game with a 14-10 edge in shots. TJ White made three saves in the win for the Diplomats, while senior goalkeeper Tyler Cabot (Hightstown, NJ/Peddie School) made two saves in the loss for Washington.
The Shoremen return to action Wednesday with a 7:00 p.m. Centennial Conference home game against Swarthmore.
