Shoremen Improve to 21-2 All-Time Against Salisbury
SALISBURY, MD -- Visiting Washington College improved to 21-2 all-time against Eastern Shore rival Salisbury University by defeating the host Sea Gulls, 123-80, in non-conference men's swimming tonight. The meet was conducted using metric events (rather than the typical events in yards) due to Salisbury's Maggs Pool being 25 meters long.
Sophomore Greg Lee (Haddonfield, NJ/Haddonfield Memorial), freshman Lucas Morgan (Allendale, NJ/Northern Highlands Regional), and sophomore Austin Yocum (Lebanon, PA/Cedar Crest) each won two events for the Shoremen. Lee won the 200-meter individual medley in 2:24.88 and the 100-meter butterfly in 1:02.75. Morgan won the 800-meter freestyle in 9:03.10 and the 100-meter breaststroke in 1:11.25. Yocum captured the 200-meter freestyle in 2:02.00 and the 400-meter freestyle in 4:26.81. Freshman Charles Logan (Durham, NC/Riverside) added a first-place finish in the 100-meter backstroke in 1:03.62 and a second-place finish in the 200-meter individual medley in 2:26.68.
The Shoremen posted the fastest times in both relay events. Logan, Morgan, Lee, and sophomore Steven Bilinski (Swarthmore, PA/Strath Haven) won the 200-meter medley relay in 1:53.0. Freshman Chris Kelly (Ellicott City, MD/Centennial), freshman Sean Stevens (Haddonfield, NJ/Haddonfield Memorial), freshman Eric Burcin (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty), and Yocum swam a race-best 1:42.35 in the 200-meter freestyle relay as an exhibition entrant.
Stevens also finished second in the 50-meter freestyle in 25.23, while Kelly was second in the 100-meter butterfly in 1:04.98. Junior Robert Mix (Downingtown, PA/Downingtown East) added a second-place finish in the 800-meter freestyle in 9:41.38, while freshman Sean DiFatta (Baldwin, MD/John Carroll) took second in the 400-meter freestyle in 4:43.31.
