Lee, Yocum Win Two Individual Events Each for Shoremen
WESTMINSTER, MD -- Visiting Washington College picked up its first Centennial Conference win of the season, defeating host McDaniel, 57-38, in men's swimming action this afternoon. Freshmen Greg Lee (Haddonfield, NJ/Haddonfield Memorial) and Austin Yocum (Lebanon, PA/Cedar Crest) each won two individual events in the victory for the Shoremen (4-6, 1-5 Centennial).
Lee won the 200 individual medley in 2:04.36 and the 100 butterfly in 55.92. Yocum captured the 200 freestyle in 1:50.49 and the 500 freestyle in 5:04.38. Freshman James Ray (Timonium, MD/Towson) added a first-place finish in the 100 backstroke in 56.85, while senior Austin Auger (McLean, VA/Langley) placed first in the 100 breaststroke in 1:03.71.
The Shoremen also won both relay events as Ray, Auger, senior Ross Mills (Silver Spring, MD/Paint Branch), and freshman Steven Bilinski (Swarthmore, PA/Strath Haven) captured the 200 medley relay in 1:45.02, while Lee, Ray, Bilinski, and Yocum took the 200 freestyle relay in 1:30.84.
Bilinski added a second-place finish in the 100 freestyle in 51.16, while sophomore Robert Mix (Downingtown, PA/Downingtown East) took the 1000 freestyle in 10:50.18.
The Shoremen return to action at the Centennial Conference Championships, February 17th-19th at Gettysburg College.
