Shoremen Sweep Doubles, Win Five Singles

CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Host Washington College posted an
8-1 win over visiting McDaniel College in the Centennial Conference
men's tennis opener for both schools this afternoon at Schottland
Tennis Center. The Shoremen improved to 2-2 overall with the
win, while the Green Terror fell to 2-5 with the loss.
The Shoremen won at all three doubles spots. Junior
Marc
Cywinski (Brisbane, Australia/Pendleton [FL]) and
sophomore Vishnu Rajes
(Yercaud, India/St. John's) beat Brian
Kron and Seth McFall, 8-6, at No. 1,
while sophomores Dan
Boaté (West Chester, PA/Reed Henderson) and
Ryan
Holtschneider (Perry Hall, MD/Perry Hall) improved to
4-0 this spring with an 8-3 victory over Daniel
Xinis and Matthew Langsdale at No. 2.
Junior Joel Novick
(Cape May Court House, NJ/Middle Township) and senior
Andrew
Pearson (Flourtown, PA/Springfield Township) added an
8-6 win over Tim Orrok and Jacob
Lorenz at No. 3.
McDaniel's lone point came at No. 1 singles as Kron
beat Rajes, 6-4, 6-4. Cywinski won by the same score over McFall at
No. 2. Boaté improved to 4-0 in singles this spring with a
6-2, 6-3, win over Xinis at No. 3, while Holtschneider beat
Langsdale, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 4. Novick remained unbeaten this spring
at 4-0 with a 6-1, 6-1, win over Orrok at No. 5, while Pearson beat
Tyler Justice, 6-1, 6-2, at No. 6.
The Shoremen return to action Friday with a 3:30 p.m.
non-conference home match against Randolph-Macon.
