Thompson Leads Balanced Offense with Three Goals

CHESTERTOWN, Md. -- Eleven different players scored goals for host Washington College in a 17-1 Centennial Conference women's lacrosse victory over visiting Bryn Mawr College tonight on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium. The Shorewomen improved to 7-3 overall and 3-1 in conference play with the win, while the Owls fell to 4-8 and 0-6 with the loss. 

The Shorewomen scored on their first three shots of the game, taking a 3-0 lead on a goal by freshman midfielder Katherine Vincent (Wilton, Conn/Wilton) off an assist from junior midfielder Emily Hubley (West Chester, Pa./Bayard Rustin) just 1:40 into the game. Washington held a 10-1 lead at halftime.

Freshman attacker Maisey Thompson (West Chester, Pa./Woodlynde School) led the Shorewomen's balanced scoring effort with her first three collegiate goals. Junior attacker Caroline Lovett (Lancaster, Pa./Penn Manor) added a game-best four assists in the first 10 minutes of the game. Freshman midfielder Daniela Falcone (Potomac, Md./Connelly School of the Holy Child), sophomore midfielder Erica Hoffmann (Laurel Springs, N.J./Sterling), freshman midfielder Katherine Vincent (Wilton, Conn/Wilton), and sophomore attacker Carley Kendall (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton Area) each scored two goals for Washington; Falcone's were the first of her collegiate career.

Junior midfielder Emily Hubley (West Chester, Pa./Bayard Rustin) and senior attacker Laura Nicely (Baltimore, Md./Institute of Notre Dame) tallied one goal and one assist each, while freshman midfielder Alli Dudley (New Windsor, Md./Francis Scott Key) and senior attacker Sydney Slavin (Timonium, Md./Dulaney) had two assists a piece. Senior midfielder Carly Eisenbrandt (Baltimore, Md./Towson), junior defender Liz Godorov (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill West), junior attacker Catherine Stanley (Freeland, Md./Hereford), and freshman attacker Sarah Matanin (Parkton, Md./Hereford) scored one goal each. Matanin's was the first of her collegiate career.

Washington played four different goalies in the contest. Senior Rachelle Martinez (Silver Spring, Md./Northwood) saw the most time with 26:39 of playing time. She gave up the Owls' only goal, but also made Washington's two saves.  

Bryn Mawr's lone goal came on a Claire Johnson free-position shot with 57 seconds left in the first half. Katie Alpert made 14 saves in the loss for Bryn Mawr. 

Washington held a 38-4 advantage in shots in the game and a 27-8 margin in ground balls. The Shorewomen controlled 11 of the game's 15 draws. 

The Shorewomen return to action Saturday with a 12:00 p.m. Centennial Conference game at Dickinson.
