Shorewomen Pull Away from Red Devils, 11-6

Dudley Notches Five Assists in Win

CHESTERTOWN, Md. -- Host Washington College defeated visiting Dickinson College, 11-6, in a Centennial Conference women's lacrosse game this afternoon on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium. The Shorewomen improved to 8-3 overall and 4-1 in conference play with the win, while the Red Devils dropped to 5-6 and 1-4 with the loss. 

Carly O'Brien scored just 22 seconds into the game for the Red Devils. The Shorewomen evened the scored with 25:53 to go in the first when senior attacker Caroline Lovett (Lancaster, Pa./Penn Manor) found the back of the net. Washington went in front 1:48 later as junior attacker Carley Kendall (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton Area) scored in transition off an assist from sophomore midfielder Alli Dudley (New Windsor, Md./Francis Scott Key). Dudley then fed senior attacker Catherine Stanley (Freeland, Md./Hereford) for a goal off a set play with 18:40 on the clock and Lovett scored off a Kendall pass with 13:18 left in the first half to give the Shorewomen a 4-1 cushion. Kendall made it 5-1 with a goal with 11:29 to go in the period. Maddy Siebold ended the Washington run with 10:52 remaining, but Stanley countered with a goal off a feed from Dudley just 11 seconds later to make it 6-2. Hubley tacked on the Shorewomen's seventh goal with 5:18 left before the intermission as the lead grew to five at 7-2. Elizabeth Sitko scored for the Red Devils on a free-position with 90 seconds to go in the half and Caroline Clancy scored off an assist from Jennifer Morrissey with seven seconds left to cut the lead to 7-4 at halftime. 

Morrissey opened the second-half scoring for Dickinson, netting a goal off an assist from O'Brien with 27:12 left and Siebold scored on a free-position with 26:45 to go to slice the lead down to a single goal at 7-6. Neither team scored again until Dudley found freshman midfielder Rachael Shaw (Bechtelsville, Pa./Boyertown) for a goal with 11:40 remaining to make it 8-6. Stanley then scored off an assist from Lovett with 8:25 left as the lead went back to three goals at 9-6. Senior defender Liz Godorov (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill West) put the game all but out of reach with a goal with 5:25 remaining in the contest. Lovett added the final goal for the Shorewomen off a Dudley assist with 1:36 left. 

Dudley finished the game with five assists for the Shorewomen, while Lovett scored three goals and assisted on another and Kendall had two goals and two assists. Stanley notched three goals for the Shorewomen. Sophomore goalie Haylee Solomon (Wantagh, N.Y./Sanford H. Calhoun) made 10 saves in goal. 

Seibold led Dickinson with two goals, while Morrissey and O'Bren had one goal and one assist each. 

The Shorewomen held a slim 26-24 advantage in shots in the game. 

The Shorewomen return to action Wednesday with a 7:00 p.m. Centennial Conference home game against Haverford.
