PITTSBURGH, Pa.— In a non-conference match between two nationally-ranked women's tennis teams, host Carnegie Mellon (ranked 11th in Division III, third in the Atlantic South region) defeated visiting Washington College (40th in Division III, eighth in the region), 9-0, this afternoon. The Tartans improved to 12-5 with the win, while the Shorewomen fell to 5-2 with the loss.

Doubles
- Minami Makino and Cori Sidell, ranked sixth in the region in doubles, posted an 8-3 win over April Weaver and Marielle McIntyre at No. 1.
- Brooke Tsu and Jamie Vizelman defeated Rachel Martinez and Julie Lazer, 8-4, at No. 2.
- Nicholle Torres and Abbrey Hamstra were 8-1 winners against Krista Filiopoulos and MP Hubert at No. 3.  

Singles
- Tsu, ranked 16th in the nation and seventh in the region in singles, pulled out a 7-6(3) first-set win at No. 1 against Weaver, the region's 10th-ranked singles player, and closed her match out with a 6-1 win in set two.
- Torres, ranked 48th in the nation and eighth in the region in singles, beat Lazer, the region's 25th-ranked player, by a 7-5, 6-1 count at No. 2.
- Sidell, ranked 17th in the region in singles, rallied for a 2-6, 7-5, 10-2, win over Martinez at No. 3.
- Vizelman defeated Filiopoulos, 6-4, 6-2, at No. 4.
- Makino and Marina Selenica both won by 6-0, 6-0, counts at the bottom two singles spots. Makino blanked Blair Kang at No. 5, while Selenica shut out Hubert at No. 6.
