Lazer Clinches Victory with Win at No. 2 Singles
SWARTHMORE, Pa.— Visiting Washington College, ranked 40th in Division III and eighth in the Atlantic South region, improved to 7-2 overall remained unbeaten in Centennial Conference play at 4-0 with a 6-3 women's tennis win over host Swarthmore College, ranked 13th in the region, today. The Garnet fell to 3-5 and 1-1 with the loss.

Doubles
- At No. 3, Ashley Gao and Rachel Bronkema were 8-4 winners for Swarthmore over Krista Filiopoulos and MP Hubert.
- The Shorewomen evened things up at No. 1 with an 8-4 win by April Weaver and Marielle McIntyre against Maria Cuervo and Alli Wong.
- Washington took a 2-1 advantage into singles play after Rachel Martinez and Julie Lazer outlasted Julia Gokhberg and Anna Scheibmeir, 9-8(0), at No. 2.
Singles
- Weaver, ranked 10th in the region in singles, dispatched of Gokhberg, 6-3, 6-2, at No. 1 to give the Shorewomen a 3-1 advantage.
- Martinez bumped the lead up to 4-1 with her 6-4, 7-5, victory against Arya Jemal at No. 3.
- Lazer, ranked 25th in the region in singles, clinched the win for the Shorewomen when she defeated Wong, 7-5, 6-3, at No. 2.
- Kang then beat Bronkema, 6-1, 6-3, at No. 5, to run the score to 6-1 before Swarthmore won the final two matches to finish to account for the final margin. Scheibmeir slipped past Filiopoulos, 4-6, 7-6, 10-6, at No. 4, while Cuervo beat Hubert, 7-5, 6-2, at No. 6.
