#5 Diplomats Pull Away From Shorewomen In Second Half To Post 12-9 Win

Docktor Scores 100th Career Goal In The Loss And Posts Three Goals, One Assist

LANCASTER, Pa. — Host and fifth ranked Franklin & Marshall remained undefeated in Centennial Conference play by using a 5-0 run in the second half to pull away from visiting Washington College and post a 12-9 win in a Centennial Conference women's lacrosse game played this afternoon at Shadek Stadium in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

How It Happened
- The Diplomats struck first when Clare Monaghan scored off of an assist from Jane Cote with 23:07 to go in the opening half.
- Aubrey Robinson tied the game for the Shorewomen at 1-1 on an unassisted goal with 18:13 to go until halftime.
- Paige Moriarty gave Franklin & Marshall a 2-1 lead, scoring off of another assist from Cote, with 15:29 to go in the opening half. 
- Madison Acra would tie the game at 2-2, as she barely beat the dying possession clock with an unassisted goal with 8:08 to go until halftime.
- Megan Jackson gave the lead back to the Diplomats with 5:33 to go in the half, scoring off an assist from Grace Norley to give Franklin & Marshall a 3-2 lead.
- Kristy Grovom leveled the game at 3-3, finishing off an assist from Cecily Docktor with 4:05 to play in the opening half.
- The Diplomats pulled back ahead at 4-3 when Maddie Hughes scored a free position goal with 3:13 to go in the half, but Docktor tied the game for the Shorewomen just 12 seconds later, as she finished off a pass from Anna Bennett to make it a 4-4 game with 3:01 to go in the opening half.
- Nancy Taylor would give the Diplomats a 5-4 lead with 38 seconds to go in the half, finishing another assist from Cote. That goal would be the last of a back and forth opening half of play.
- Acra scored her second goal of the game just 1:28 into the second half to tie the game at 5-5, and Grovom would score an unassisted goal 70 seconds later to give the Shorewomen their first lead of the game at 6-5 with 27:22 to go.
- Monaghan converted a free position shot for the Diplomats with 25:29 to go, tying the game 6-6. Norley would then give Franklin & Marshall the lead for good, scoring off another Cote assist to put the Diplomats ahead 7-6 with 23:16 to go. Juliann Lisovicz would then give the Diplomats the first multiple goal lead of the game for either team, finishing off another Cote assist to push the lead to 8-6 with 22:40 to play.
- Norley would convert a free position shot 26 seconds later to put the Diplomats ahead 9-6, and Brianna Gorman would cap the 5-0 run for the Diplomats, scoring an unassisted goal with 20:04 to go to put Franklin & Marshall ahead 10-6.
- Lauren Brenner finally broke the run for the Shorewomen, converting a free position goal with 15:37 to go to cut the lead to 10-7.
- Jackson would finish off an unassisted goal for the Diplomats with 12:47 to go to push the lead back out to four goals at 11-7, and would later convert a free position shot with 6:01 to go to give Franklin & Marshall a five goal lead at 12-7.
- Docktor would cut the lead to 12-8 with an unassisted goal with 4:22 to go and would later score again, her 100th career goal, this time off an assist from Morgen Moran, to cut the lead to 12-9 with 1:06 to go and provide the final margin.

- Scorers: Docktor (3 goals, 1 assist), Grovom (2 goals), Acra (2 goals), Robinson (1 goal), Brenner (1 goal), Bennett (1 assist), Moran (1 assist).
- Goalie: Isabella Richardson (8 saves, 12 goals allowed, 55:38), Victoria Shanerman (1 save, 0 goals allowed, 4:22).
- Bennett and Robinson each led the Shorewomen with a pair of caused turnovers and Madison Schutz led the Shorewomen with five draw controls.
- Washington held a 17-13 edge in ground balls and turned the ball over just 10 times, while forcing 16 turnovers from the Diplomats.

- Anya Chopoorian led the Diplomats with a game high 11 draw controls.
- The Diplomats held a 26-20 advantage in shots and a 15-8 advantage in draw controls, including an 11-2 margin in the second half.

Notes
- Despite the loss, the Shorewomen clinched a top three seed and a first round bye in the Centennial Conference playoffs courtesy of a 19-18, overtime win by McDaniel over Swarthmore earlier today.
- Docktor becomes the 14th player in Shorewomen history to score 100 goals in their career. Sarah Coste '91 holds the Shorewomen record for goals in a career, scoring 225 goals from 1988-1991.
