Miller Tallies Three Points on Two Goals and One Assist

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Visiting #6 York (Pa.) got six goals and seven points from Regan Cook and never trailed on its way to a 13-6 win over host Washington College in a non-conference women's lacrosse game on Wednesday afternoon at Kibler Field at Roy Kirby Jr., Stadium.  It was the season opener for both squads.

How It Happened
- York scored the game's first three goals in the opening 2:14 of the contest to take a 3-0 lead on a Cook free position tally.
- Washington would get on the board with 24:41 to go in the first half on a score by Olivia Miller and with 22:13 to go Colleen Keefe would trim it to 3-2 with 22:13 to go on a free position score.
- Madison Marciniak made it 4-2 on a free position with 19:06 left in the first half before Keefe answered on a free position of her own to cut it to 4-3 just 14 seconds later.
- The Spartans would close out the half on a 6-1 run to take a 9-4 lead into halftime.  Cook capped the scoring with 13 seconds left on a feed from Meghan Fox.
- York outscored Washington 4-2 in the second half and led by as many as eight at 12-4 with 19:15 left on Cook's sixth goal of the day.

For The Shorewomen (0-1)
- Scoring: Miller (two goals and one assist), Keefe (two goals)
- In Goal: Sydney Wingate (30:00, 10 saves, nine goals), Brigid Monahan (30:00, two saves, four goals)
- Meghan Dean (four ground balls) and Anna Bennett (five draw controls)
- WC went 20-for-28 in clears, went 4-for-16 in free position shots and had 23 ground balls.

For #6 York (Pa.) (1-0)
- Scoring: Cook (six goals and seven points), Fox (two goals and two assists; five draw controls and three ground balls), Devin Hursey (three helpers), Marciniak (three goals and four points)
- In Goal: Riley DiFiore (60:00, 15 saves, six goals)
- Teresa Matthias (six draw controls and four ground balls)
- York outshot Washington, 31-28, and had 18 ground balls.
- The Spartans went 15-for-17 in clears and had three more turnovers than WC, 22-19.
- York went 3-for-9 in free position chances won 15 of the contest's 21 draws.

Notes
- Miller was named the Goose Nation TV Shorewomen Player of the Game on the broadcast.
