Box Score Brenner Chalks Up Five Points and Bennett Wins 100th Career Draw as WC Tallies First Win of 2020
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Visiting Washington College scored the game's final four goals to turn a 7-7 tie into an 11-7 win over host Christopher Newport in a non-conference women's lacrosse game on Saturday afternoon at Jennings Stadium. The Shorewomen improve to 1-1 on the year, while the Captains drop to 2-2.

How It Happened
- Trailing 2-1, Caroline Bailey netted her first two career goals to give the Shorewomen a 3-2 lead with 14:14 remaining in the first half with Sydney Allender picking up the assist on the second Bailey goal.
- Christopher Newport would answer with two goals of its own to retake the lead at 4-3 with 11:50 left in the first on a Sam Wettengel goal.
- The Shorewomen would respond with four goals to the Captains' one the rest of the half to take a 7-5 lead into halftime. Anna Bennett put WC ahead, 5-4, on a free position score with 9:06 remaining and Colleen Keefe capped the 4-1 run on a goal from Lauren Brenner with 2:50 to go before halftime to give the guests a two-goal edge.
- In the second half, the Captains would score the first two goals to tie the game at 7-7 with 16:50 to go on a Kendall Krause goal from Zoe Dyer.
- Washington would shut down Christopher Newport the rest of the way and used a 4-0 game-closing run to come away with the win. Olivia Miller put the Shorewomen ahead for good with 12:56 to go at 8-7 on an unassisted tally. Bailey would net her third of the day to make it 9-7 with 9:05 left. Brenner would finish the spurt with consecutive goals with 5:34 and 4:46 left to cap the scoring.

- The Shorewomen won 11 of the game's 20 draw controls.
- WC went 20-for-23 in clears, went 3-for-5 in free position shots and 21 ground balls while outshooting the Captains 31-14.

- Scoring: Kelsey Winters (one goal and three assists), Dyer (two goals and one helper), Wettengel (two scores)
- In Goal: Becca Creekmore (60:00, 14 saves, 11 goals)

- The Captains went 18-for-25 in clears and had 10 more turnovers than WC, 27-17.
- Christopher Newport went 1-for-5 in free position chances and totaled 14 ground balls.

- Brenner is the 21st WC player to tally 125 career points as she is now at 126 all-time points.
