Box Score Orlando, Fla. - - -The Washington College women's tennis team improved to 6-1 with a victory against Carthage on Friday morning. The Shorewomen won five of the six singles matches en route to a 6-3 decision.
Doubles
Irene Meng and Ella Samer cruised to an 8-1 victory at No. 2 doubles against Rachel Anderson and Kira Mautone. Alisha White and Cecilia Cress were blanked, 8-0, by Giana Apostoli and Sam Ramsey at the top doubles slot and Nia Pham and Sierra Sonnemaker bested Marin Vander Schaaf and Riley Katzman by a score of 8-5 at No. 3 doubles.
Singles
The Shorewomen dominated singles play by winning five of six matches. White won a 6-0, 6-5 decision at No. 2 singles against Ramsey. Samer defeated Pham at No. 3 singles, 6-4, 6-3 and Nguyen bested Sonnemaker by a count of 6-3, 6-3 at the No. 4 spot. Vander Schaaf cruised against Faelan O'Shaughnessy, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 5 singles and Alexa Venturato beat Mautone at the No. 6 position, 6-2, 6-4. Meng was edged by Apostoli, 0-6, 6-2 (9-11 tiebreak).
