Box Score Highlights
Chestertown, Md. – The visiting Swarthmore Garnet scored a goal in each half and blanked the Washington College Shorewomen, 2-0, in a Centennial Conference match on Wednesday evening at Roy Kirby Jr. Stadium. The Shorewomen fall to 5-5-2 (1-3-2) while the Garnet improve to 4-3-2 (2-2-1).
How It Happened
- The hosts had a tremendous opportunity to score early as junior midfielder Elena Hilario hit a rocket and forced Swarthmore keeper Lillian Keller to make a diving save in the 6th minute.
- The visitors got on the board in the 19th minute as senior defender Ally Scheve put in her own corner kick with a low shot that trickled over the goal line.
- The Shorewomen had a chance to even the score two minutes later but junior midfielder Ellie Morrall just misfired on a point-blank shot with Keller out of position.
- Swarthmore scored just thirty-two seconds into the second half to take a 2-0 advantage. Junior midfielder Veronica Gibbons lofted a high-arching pass into the box and freshman midfielder Hope Neale was able to sneak a soft shot just inside the far post with Shorewomen keeper Noah Smith out of position.

- The Shorewomen outshot the visitors by an 11-8 margin
- Swarthmore took five corner kicks compared to two by the Shorewomen
- Washington College will hit the road for three straight contests before returning home against Bryn Mawr on Oct. 23 (Senior Day).

"We are really proud of our effort and intensity level. I thought we deserved a better fate than the score line showed. We played some excellent soccer and created good chances, but couldn't get one or two over the line. We don't like the result but I'll take that kind of effort from our team every time."
