Box Score Baltimore, Md. – The Washington College men's soccer team was edged by the No. 6 ranked Johns Hopkins Blue Jays, 1-0, in a Centennial Conference contest on Saturday afternoon at Homewood Field. The Shoremen fall to 7-4-0 (3-2) while the Blue Jays improve to 9-0-2 (5-0-0).
How It Happened
- The Shoremen had a quality scoring chance in the 10th minute but Hopkins' keeper Xander LeFevere made a diving save to his right on a low free kick by senior midfielder James Strine.
- The hosts were able to get on the board in the 19th minutes as junior forward Axel Whamond beat Shoremen keeper Anthony Pinto with a high shot from ten yards out. Sophomore midfielder Logan Falzarano started the play along the right sideline as he was able to tap the ball over to freshman midfielder Ian Whamond, who was all alone inside the right box. Whamond then centered the ball over to his older brother who was in the middle of the box. Pinto tried to make a diving save to his right but Whamond's shot was perfectly placed just inside the left post.
