Three Players Net Double Figures for Washington

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Host Washington College never trailed on its way to a 75-43 win over visiting St. Mary's (Md.) on Wednesday evening on Tom Finnegan Court at Penny J. Fall Gym in non-conference women's basketball action.  The Shorewomen improve to 3-1 on the season, while the Seahawks drop to 1-3.

How It Happened
- The Shorewomen took the lead for good at 4-2 with 6:38 left in the first quarter on a jumper by Madeline Williams that ignited a 6-0 run that was capped by a fast-break layup by Rachel Thiem with 5:$5 to go in the first as Washington led 8-2. 
- After Chyna London made a layup to cut the lead to 8-4, the Shorewomen scored the last nine points to lead 17-4 after one as Karry Kelliher scored on a transition lay-in with 1:12 remaining to cap the scoring.
- After St. Mary's scored the first four points of the second quarter to trim the lead to 17-8, Washington outscored the guests 13-5 to take a 30-13 lead into halftime.  Williams rounded out the scoring in the second on two free throws with 46 ticks left.
- Charlotte Donnellan netted a free throw to get the Seahawks within 13 at 39-26 with 2:14 left before WC scored five of the final six points to take a 44-27 lead heading into the fourth following a layup by Joy Sanders with 42 seconds remaining. 
- In the fourth quarter, Washington outscored St. Mary's, 31-16, to provide the final margin.

For The Shorewomen (3-1)
- Andrea Prestianne  (team-best 12 points and game-high four steals), Thiem (team-best 12 points to set career-best), Serena Pluta (10 points to set personal-best), Lizzie Hudock (game-high and career-best eight rebounds), Kaleigh White (three blocks to lead all players and set a career-high), Kelliher (contest-best six assists to set career-high)
- WC shot 46% from the floor (26-for-56), 42% from three-point range (5-for-12) and 86% (18-for-21) from the foul line in the game.
- Washington held a 46-32 advantage in rebounds in the win.
- The Shorewomen turned it over 22 times.
- WC outscored St. Mary's in points in the paint, 24-12, points off turnovers, 22-18, second-chance points, 11-4, transition points, 4-2, and bench points, 41-13.

For St. Mary's (Md.) (1-3)
- Karon Williams (game-high 14 points and team-best six rebounds), Stephanie Howell (squad-high three steals)
- The Seahawks shot  22% from the floor (11-for-50), 10% from three-point land (1-for-10) and 56% from the foul stripe (20-for-36).
- St. Mary's had 18 turnovers in the game.

Notes
- Thiem was named the Goose Nation TV Shorewoman Player of the Game.
- St. Mary's Stephanie Howell is the sister of Sammi Howell '20, who played four seasons on the Shorewomen Basketball team.
