Box Score Meng Clinches Match for Washington at No. 2 Singles
CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Host Washington College won its Centennial Conference and home opener, 7-2, over visiting Gettysburg on Saturday afternoon at the Schottland Tennis Center in women's tennis action.

Doubles
- The Shorewomen won at No. 2 doubles as Piper Sartison and Ella Samer prevailed 8-1 over the duo of Alexis Rinker and Tierney Cantwell.
- No. 1 doubles finished next and the Irene Meng and Alisha White came away with an 8-3 win to give WC two wins in doubles over Alex Rieg and Gillian Rosenfeld.
- Gettysburg's tandem of Shelby Deron and Niki Melnick were awarded victory at No. 3 doubles as Washington was unable to field a team.
Singles
- Bin Ngyuen notched the first singles win at No. 5 as she topped Melnick, 6-1, 6-1.
- Samer won, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 4 singles against Cantwell.
- Meng clinched the match for the Shorewomen at No. 2 singles as she topped Rosenfeld, 6-0, 6-0.
- Sartison downed Rieg in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 1 singles in the fifth and final singles match to conclude.
- Washington was unable to field a player at No. 6 singles and Deron was credited with the win for the Bullets.
Notes
- The Shorewomen are 2-1 on the season, while the Bullets are 0-1. WC is 1-0 in the conference, while Gettysburg is 0-1 in the Centennial.
