Sutherland Hands Out Team-Best Three Assists in Shorewomen Debut

SALISBURY, Md. – Host #7 Salisbury used a 7-0 run to open the game on its way to a 13-6 win over visiting Washington College in a non-conference women's lacrosse game on Saturday afternoon at Sea Gull Stadium.  It was the season opener for the Shorewomen, while the Sea Gulls improve to 3-0.

How It Happened
- Delaney Hill put the hosts ahead 2:12 into the game from Julie TalbertLydia McNulty would cap the seven-goal run with 16:50 to go in the first half on a pass from Alexis Strobel.
- Molly Sharpe would end the run as she scored her first career goal on a free position chance with 15:20 remaining in the first half.
- Including the Sharpe goal, the Shorewomen scored four of the final six goals of the half to reduce Salisbury's lead to 9-4 at halftime.  Colleen Keefe capped the first half score on an unassisted tally with 3:42 left.
- In the second half, Washington would finish off a 5-2 run when Keefe scored off of a pass from Morgan Sutherland to trim the Sea Gulls' lead to 9-5 with 25:02 to go in the game
- Salisbury would answer with a 4-0 run to take a 13-5 advantage with 5:47 remaining on a Talbert tally from Strobel.
- Sutherland notched her third helper of the day as she found Olivia Miller to round out the scoring with 4:44 left.

For The Shorewomen (0-1)
- Scoring: Sutherland (three assist), Keefe (two goals), Sydney Allender (goal and assist)
- In Goal: Sydney Wingate (60:00, five saves, 13 goals)
- Anna Bennett, Abby Laubach and Ellie Morrall (game-high seven draw controls)
- The Shorewomen won 12 of the game's 21 draw controls.
- WC went 14-for-18 in clears, went 1-for-4 in free position shots and nine ground balls.

For #7 Salisbury (3-0)
- Scoring: Strobel (seven assists and eight points), Talbert (four goals and five points), McNulty (two goals and one assist), Erin Scannell (two goals)
- In Goal: Mary Claire Hisle (58:58, nine saves, six goals), Kaitlyn Hunsinger (1:02, zero saves, zero goals allowed)
- Scannell (five draw controls to lead all players)
- The Sea Gulls went 18-for-18 in clears, notched 11 caused turnovers and had four fewer turnovers than WC, 15-11.
- Salisbury went 2-for-5 in free position chances and totaled 16 ground balls as they held a 26-20 advantage in shots.

Notes
- Bennett moves to seventh place all-time at WC in draws as she now has 120.
