Top Ranked Diplomats Use Strong Second Half in 15-6 Win over Shorewomen

Keefe Scores Three Times for Washington; Wingate Makes Career-Best 13 Stops

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Visiting #1 Franklin & Marshall used an 8-0 second half run to take control of the contest in a 15-6 win over host Washington College on Saturday afternoon at Kibler Field at Roy Kirby Jr. Stadium in Centennial Conference women's lacrosse action.  The Diplomats are 4-0 on the season and 3-0 in the Centennial, while the Shorewomen are 3-3 overall and 2-2 in the conference.

How It Happened
- Franklin & Marshall scored the game's first two goals to lead 2-0 just 7:53 into the game on a Megan Jackson score.
- Washington got the next two goals to tie the game at 2-2 with 19:27 remaining in the first half as Ashley Devlin finished off a feed from Anna Bennett.
- The Diplomats tallied two consecutive goals to make it 4-2 on a free position goal by Ally Marino with 5:27 remaining before the Shorewomen trimmed the lead to 4-3 with 3:05 to go in the first on a Colleen Keefe free position and that would be the halftime score. 
- In the second half, WC leveled the game at 4-4 only 17 seconds in on a free position tally by Abby Laubach.
- Franklin & Marshall would counter with the next eight goals to take a 12-4 lead with 14:30 left on a Maddy Birch goal, as she scored three and assisted of two others during the run.  Tabitha Rodriguez, who also scored three during the spurt, put the Diplomats ahead for good at 5-4 with 26:48 left in the game on an unassisted goal.
- Laubach ended the run with 13:01 left in the game, but the Diplomats scored three of the last four to provide the final margin.

For The Shorewomen (3-3, 2-2 CC)
- Scoring: Keefe (three goals), Laubach (two goals), Bennett (two assists)
- In Goal: Sydney Wingate (60:00, career-best 13 saves, 15 goals)
- Bennett and Molly Sharpe (three ground balls), Ellie Morrall (six draw controls to lead all players), Olivia Miller (two caused turnovers)
- The Shorewomen won 15 of the game's 23 draw controls and had seven caused turnovers.
- WC went 14-for-21 in clears, went 3-for-9 in free position shots and picked up 18 ground balls.

For #1 Franklin & Marshall (4-0, 3-0 CC)
- Scoring: Birch (three goals and two assists), Marissa McGarrey (three goals and one assist), Rodriguez (three goals), Jackson and Marino (two goals), Kate McLam (one goal and one assist)
- In Goal: Emily Kitchin (60:00, 11 saves, six goals and four ground balls)
- Anya Chopoorian (contest-best four caused turnovers), Emma Arronson (game-high five ground balls)
- The Diplomats, who held a 36-30 advantage in shots, went 18-for-26 in clears and had five fewer turnovers than WC, 22-17.
- Franklin & Marshall went 1-for-6 in free position chances, totaled 24 ground balls and recorded 16 caused turnovers.

Notes
- Keefe was named the Goose Nation TV Shorewomen Player of the Game on the broadcast.
- With her four draw controls, Bennett moved into fifth place in team history with 144 career draws. She passed Jenna Gouck '08 who had 142 in her career.
