Shorewomen Cap Season on High Note in 13-10 Victory over Red Devils

Wingate Makes 13 Saves to Match Career-High as Team Never Trails

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Host Washington College never trailed and capped its season on a high note with a 13-10 win over visiting Dickinson on Saturday afternoon at Kibler Field at Roy Kirby Jr. Stadium in Centennial Conference women's lacrosse action.  The Shorewomen cap their season at 5-3 overall and 4-2 in the Centennial, while the Red Devils finish 2-4 and 2-3 respectively.

How It Happened
- Washington jumped out to a 3-0 lead on a goal from Anna Bennett just 4:38 into the game following two free position tallies from Abby Laubach.
- Dickinson would answered with two of their own to trim the lead to 3-2 with 18:55 left in the first half on a Maddy Gesner goal.
- Leading 5-4, the Shorewomen scored consecutive times to lead 7-4 with 4:25 left in the opening half on a finisher by Olivia Miller.  WC would take a 7-5 lead into halftime. 
- In the second half, Colleen Keefe would score the first five Washington goals on the second to give the hosts a 12-7 advantage with 11:33 remaining with Molly Sharpe notching the assist.
- Dickinson netted the next three goals to trim the Washington lead to 12-10 with 1:53 left on a Katherine Kerin goal.
- Ashley Devlin ended the run and capped the scoring with 61 seconds left in the game on a feed from Sydney Allender.

For The Shorewomen (5-3, 4-2 CC)
- Scoring: Keefe (game-best five goals), Bennett and Laubach (two goals), Devlin (goal and two assists), Ellie Morrall (two assists), Allender and Sharpe (goal and assist)  
- In Goal: Sydney Wingate (60:00, 13 saves to match career-best, 10 goals allowed)
- Catherine Keirn (four ground balls and two caused turnovers), Meghan Dean (three ground balls and two caused turnovers), Morrall (four draw controls)
- The Shorewomen had 11 caused turnovers.
- WC went 17-for-25 in clears, went 3-for-4 in free position shots and picked up 17 ground balls.

For Dickinson (2-4, 2-3 CC)
- Scoring: Emma Godfrey (three goals), Lauren Travaglini (three assists), Gesner and Erika Bloes (two goals), Kerin (goal and assist)
- In Goal: Avery Preist (30:00, one save, seven goals), Ella Marks (30:00, two saves, six goals)
- Travaglini (seven draw controls, three ground balls, two caused turnovers)
- The Red Devils, who held a 30-22 advantage in shots, went 12-for-16 in clears and had two fewer turnovers than WC, 23-21.
- Dickinson went 0-for-3 in free position chances, totaled 18 ground balls and recorded 11 caused turnovers.

Notes
- Wingate was named the Goose Nation TV Shorewomen Player of the Game on the broadcast.
- Bennett, Dean and Keirn completed their careers in a Shorewomen uniform this afternoon.  The trio went 32-17 and qualified for the two Centennial Conference Tournaments that were played during their four years.
- With her two draws, Bennett concludes her career third all-time at Washington with 156.  Emily Hubley '15 is the program's all-time leader with 212 and Mandy Paré '99 is second with 163.
- Keefe (75 career goals) paced the Centennial Conference in goals (33) and points (37) this season.
