Volleyball Captures Two More To Extend Winning Streak to Six Straight Matches

Immaculata, PA. – The Washington College volleyball team won a pair of matches on the campus of Immaculata to up their winning streak to six consecutive decisions. The Shorewomen swept Delaware Valley (26-24, 25-21, 25-17) and host Immaculata (25-11, 25-12, 25-21). The Shorewomen improved to 6-4 on the season.

How It Happened
- The Shorewomen raced out to a 12-6 lead in the opening set as they went on a 9-3 run after the score was even at 3-3.
- The Aggies evened the set at 17-17, however, freshman outside hitter Lindsay Saddic came up with a kill and the Shorewomen recorded the next three points to take a 21-17 lead.
- Washington College eventually took the set after a hitting error.
- Senior middle hitter Jenna Daunoras delivered a solo block to spot the Shorewomen a 10-5 lead in the second set.
- The Aggie closed to within 11-8 but the Shorewomen scored the next three points and never looked back.
- Sophomore outside hitter Sylvia Johnson closed out the frame with a kill.
- Washington College trailed 11-10 in the final set but they eventually took the lead for good after another rejection by Daunoras. 
- Saddic closed out the match with a kill.
- The Shorewomen hit a season-best .327 for the match and held Delaware Valley to a .079 clip.

How It Happened
-The Shorewomen erupted for a 13-1 advantage in the opening set and never looked back. Senior setter Lauren Zedlar had four service aces during the run and Maxwell and Schaber combined for seven kills.
- Maxwell closed out the set with a kill.
- The hosts were within 4-2 in the second set, however, the visitors went on a 6-1 spurt to claim a 10-3 advantage. Schaber pounded a pair of winners and the Shorewomen capped the run with four straight points with Fairchild serving.
- Washington College eventually finished out the set after another kill by Schaber.
- Immaculata evened the score at 4-4 in the final set after a service error but a kill by freshman outside hitter Colette Franck gave the Shorewomen the lead for good with a kill on the next play.
- The Mighty Macs were still within 9-7 but Washington College rattled off five straight to claim a 14-7 advantage. Daunoras and Maxwell both registered two kills during the stretch.
- The hosts inched to within 19-18 after an 8-2 run. However, Schaber answered with a kill and Hartzell followed with an ace.
- Immaculata was within 21-20 but Daunoras had a big kill to make it 22-20 and Franck followed with an ace.
- Daunoras closed out the match with an ace after Maxwell had recorded a kill.
- The Shorewomen hit .280 while the Mighty Macs finished with a -.011 mark.
- Washington College recorded a season-high 17 aces.

- The six straight victories are the most since 2017 when the Shorewomen started 8-0.
- Maxwell has recorded double-figure kills in for of the last five matches.
- Zedlar's six aces versus Immaculata were a career-high.
- Hartzell's 22 assists versus Delaware Valley were a season-high.
- The five solo blocks by Daunoras against Delaware Valley were a career-best.
