Adams Scores Two; Team Snaps 10-Game Losing Streak to Haverford

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Senior forward Greg Adams (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) scored both goals for #24 Washington College in the first half as the hosts fended off visiting Haverford, 2-1, on Wednesday evening on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium in Centennial Conference men's soccer action.  The Shoremen are 7-2-0 overall and 3-0-0 in the Centennial on the season, while the Fords fall to 2-6-1 and 1-2-0 respectively.  It was Washington's first win over Haverford since a 2-1 win on September 28, 2011, a span of 10 games.

How It Happened
- Adams scored the first of his two goals 13:17 into the contests as he received a pass from James Strine and his shot from 15 yards out beat Haverford goalie Dylan Ioffreda to the shortside on the right to make it 1-0.
- Adams netted his second goal just 2:25 later as he gathered a feed from Harrison Malone and beat Ioffreda from the same spot, but this time on the long side into the left side of the goal to make it 2-0. 
- The Fords got on the board in the 33rd minute when Matt Heim headed in a corner kick by Tomas Ascoli into the upper right 90 off the right post to trim the lead to 2-1.
- Alex Coster had the best chance in the second half to put Washington back up by two goals, but his shot from about 25 yards out was tipped over the crossbar by Ioffreda to keep it a one-goal contest.
- Haverford's final chance came on a Heim shot with 89 seconds left from about 20 yards out, but was saved by Anthony Pinto.

- Scoring: Adams (two goals), James Strine (assist), Malone (assist)
- Goalkeeper: Anthony Pinto (3 saves, 1 goal allowed, 90:00)
- Washington had 10 shots and took four corner kicks in the game.

For Haverford (2-6-1, 1-2-0 CC)
- Scoring: Heim (goal), Ascoli (assist)
- Goalkeeper: Ioffreda (3 saves, 2 goals allowed, 90:00)
- The Fords took 11 shots in the contest and had four corners.

Notes
- Adams was named the Goose Nation TV Shoreman Player of the Game.
- The Fords had won the past nine regular season meetings and a semifinal game in the 2016 Centennial Conference Tournament at Haverford.
