CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Host Washington College jumped out to a 3-0 lead early in the fourth quarter and held off a late comeback attempt by visiting Swarthmore to register a 3-2 win in a Centennial Conference field hockey game on Wednesday night on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby Jr. Stadium for its 13th consecutive home win in the series. The Shorewomen improve to 5-7 overall and 2-3 in the Centennial, while the Garnet drop to 8-4 and 3-2 respectively.

How It Happened
- Scoreless at halftime, Washington broke onto the scoreboard 1:52 into the third quarter when
Kyra Heap entered the circle from the right side and her pass was redirected into the goal by
Jillian Brejnik.
- The Shorewomen made it 2-0 with 3:45 left in the third when
Kat Esposito came down the right side, weaved through the defense and reverse shot it into the left side of the goal.
- Washington made it a three-goal lead 4:28 into the fourth quarter when
Jam Hutt-Robles collected a pass from
Anna Harrington at the left post and put it into the cage.
- Swarthmore got onto the board with 6:30 left in the game when
Brooke Findlay received a pass from
Sophia Hitchingham and scored on a reverse shot of her own to cut the lead to 3-1.
- Seven seconds after pulling the goalie, the Garnet cut the lead to 3-2 as Hitchingham found
Jackie Crowley, who subbed for goalie
Cassandra Conklin, scored from the center of the circle to make it a one-goal game with 2:39 to go.
- The Washington defense would not allow Swarthmore another shot and would close out the win.
