Shorewomen End Homestand on High Note, Topping Cabrini 5-0

Washington Outshoot Cavaliers 11-7

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Washington College played host to the Cavaliers from Cabrini and came away with a 5-0 win over the visitors on Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference women's soccer matchup on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby Jr. Stadium to conclude their four-game homestand. The Shorewomen shot perfectly at the goal, placing all 11 shots on goal with five of those shots getting by the Cavalier goalkeepers. Cabrini managed to take seven shots with four of them being on target. The win moves Washington to 5-3-6 overall whereas for the Cavaliers they fall to 10-5-0.

How It Happened

After a slow start to the game, the Shorewomen got the scoreboard exactly eight minutes into the game with Paige O'Connell scoring from Emily Morris's pass, with O'Connell's shot hitting off the crossbar before going into the left side of the net from the right side of the top of the 18.
- The Shorewomen kept the pressure going on Cabrini's goalkeeper Caroline Hassall as just 2:04 after the first goal, Ellen Daly sent a cross into the center of the box with Bridget Whiteside sending the ball into the back of the net.
- Cabrini forced Hailey Sharpe to make a save in the 36th minute as Riley Underwood sent it towards the left corner.
- The Cavaliers recorded the first shot of the second half in the 54th minute with a header by Rebekah Cunningham towards the right side of the goal with Grace Kelley recording the Team Save.
- Shortly thereafter, Washington extended their lead in the 55th minute with Elena Hilario heading the ball to the left post from the double assist by Amity Harrington and Kayla Streett off of a cornerkick.
- The Shorewomen extended their lead to four in the 77th minute after Gillian Slavick scored from the ball played in by Rachel Chatfield on the free kick.
- Deleyney Herrera-Migucha had a close shot for the Cavaliers in the 78th minute from the corner kick played in by Underwood, forcing Sharpe to make a save.
- Washington came away with another goal in the 89th minute as Slavick scored her second goal of the game and second of the season from the ball played in by Rory Miller.
